Jimmy Skinner

I started as a DJ 13 years ago at a teen club on the north side called In-10-city. I was only 17. Before that I used to mix in my bedroom after school every day for hours, my mom bought me a mixer from Radio Shack when I was 15.

I got interested in music from hanging out at a teen club called Carrz when I was in high school. I later got a job there working the door and bartending.I got to know the DJ there pretty well, his name was Eric G. he taught me a lot of what I know.

After In-10-city I went on to work at a few different teen clubs in the Woodlands, then I got a gig at this club Downtown called Red Square...that is when it all really started for me. We did a gay night there called Boy Bar, which was the first gay club I ever worked at.

From there I went on to work in the after hours club scene, while still maintaining a few regular hours residencies. I worked a place called Middle Earth, which was the first place that really pumped up my name and put a lot of effort into me. I worked there only on Saturday night and our crowd grew to over 1700...which was completely awesome for me, as well as my career.

From there I went to Hyperiaw hich was cool because I got to play with some of the best DJ's from around the world like Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed, Steve Lawler, and Eric Morillo.

While I was working there I landed my residency at South Beach, which allowed me to win Best DJ in Houston award from TXT magazine this year.
